Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix Movie Review

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Being a die hard fan of Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling, I thought it would be a shame if I didn’t write a review about the latest flop Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix movie. This movie is the 5th installment of the 7 installment Harry Potter series which ended with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling

which hit the stores this July 21st.

I don’t know how came each installment of Harry Potter series is directed by completely different directors. I’m really suspicious whether they understood the plot or not.

This is also very lately released considering the fact that previous movies are released by one year gaps except Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire which was released 3 years after it’s predecessor. This movie is also released 3 years after it’s predecessor. I think it’s got something to do with the year gaps. Because, every time a Harry Potter movie hits the big screens after 3 years of delay, it seems it changes a lot of the good plot and brings a complete mess of a movie which is not at all the Harry Potter, J.K. Rowling wrote.

I don’t understand why do people change a lot of the original script which was already written and famous. They might argue that some of the happenings in the Books are not as interesting as they’re in the Big Screen. I can agree. But that shouldn’t give an excuse to change the whole lot plot of the original script and write your own script for the Movie. If we wanted a movie that is similar to Harry Potter series, surely we would’ve asked for. What we want rather is a Movie that pictures every aspect of the Original Harry Potter. Surely we fans can argue that the Book is as interesting as it can be in Big Screen too. Except for some minor glitches which definitely need to be changed in the Big Screen, I don’t see any reason for changing the script at all. What they’ve desperately came here with is a complete rewritten script which touches only few facts from the Original Script written by J.K. Rowling.

I can say the Graphics and CGI are improving faster with every Harry Potter installment. But, it’s just becoming a waste of time considering the pointless plot. I’m damn sure that the Director either didn’t read Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix book completely or didn’t understood it. I see hell lot of flaws in the Screen Writing and to my dismay, they’ve even changed some serious plot lines. For example, the person who tells Dolores Umbridge about the Dumbledore Army is NOT Cho Chang as portrayed in the film and it’s actually Cho Chang’s friend Marietta Edgecombe if I knew the book well. This major flaw completely rewrote the basic concept of love braking of Cho Chang and Harry Potter in the Movie (according to the Book, it’s on Hermione Granger and Harry Potter relationship that broke Harry Potter and Cho Chang’s Love, not as portrayed in the Movie). These flaws should easily confuse newcomers and those who didn’t remember the 5th Book completely.

In my opinion, the point of Harry Potter movies are easily the point of helping newcomers understand the Harry Potter series and go to the Book for more information or showing the readers of Harry Potter an visualization of the Book events. None of these points are gathered by Harry Potter directors except for Chris Columbus who directed the first two installments of Harry Potter series. I liked the first two installments very much as they visualized the events of the Books clearly and the visualization is simply superb. Even Richard Harris‘ performance as Professor Albus Dumbledore is excellent and brought the character live. The same character played by Michael Gambon is a complete mess. Albus Dumbledore, if I knew him correctly from the Books, never ran along with holding his Cloaks in his hands and NEVER showed impatience and less of concentration in important events as it’s portrayed by Michael Gambon. The Characters and other aspects remain intact only for the students of Hogwarts who are introduced in the first 2 installments and Rubeus Hagrid and few Teachers who are introduced in the first two installments.

I know J.K. Rowling has earned a huge lot by the Books and doesn’t need the Movies to be a hit for her at all. But, for the Fans like me who are die hard, it is a ultra ignorance of J.K. Rowling that kills us. I know she still has her hold on the Movies if she wanted to. But she isn’t seems to be wanting to change any of these. She just lets them do whatever mess they’re about to do without wondering about the Fans. I know there are few Directors who portrayed even a boring big Novel with interesting stuff in Big Screen and still kept the original plot intact such as my favourite and the great Peter Jackson on The Lord of the Rings series. They’re simply marvelous and even earned many Oscars. It’s no wonder none of the Harry Potter series didn’t won even a single Oscar. Some may argue that Harry Potter series books are big (except for the first 2 books) and that’s why it’s hard to portray them on Big Screen and also that’s the reason why the first 2 installments of the Harry Potter movie series are a success. For them, I would like to advise to read The Lord of the Rings book and watch the three The Lord of the Rings movies that Peter Jackson directed. Every volume (2 Books per Volume of 3 Volumes) of the Lord of the Rings series is twice as huge (at least 1 and half) as the Harry Potter series books and yet Peter Jackson managed to bring the charm in just 3 hours each. For me, that’s Directing. Even he brought the good old King Kong marvelously live as none of the predecessors did. So, these are all just excuses.

I think the professionalism should be applied to the Harry Potter series movies and the Directors should stop treating Harry Potter series as Horror Movies (if you see the 4th and 5th installment movies, you will understand what I mean by treating it as Horror Movies). At least, I hope Chris Columbus returns to do the Harry Potter series. If my expectations aren’t huge, I hope Peter Jackson to do the Harry Potter series from the beginning even though they’re already filmed as he did the King Kong movie which was already taken 4 times previously.

Session Manager Firefox Plugin

Print This Post Print This Post

Session Manager Firefox PluginOne of the disadvantages in Firefox browser is (of course a Major of IE) browser crash that happens occasionally. When it happens the inevitable thing is loosing all your opened Tabs and their Contents ultimately. To solve this, and also add extra features to Firefox that you would definitely want to have, a Add-on for Firefox in the name Session Manager is being available for almost a year.

This Add-on adds a Icon in your Address Bar that looks like a Floppy Disk and allows you to do the following things:

  • Save current Session (whatever is open in the Browser at that time)
  • Get Previous Browsing Sessions (you can define how much you want to hold)
  • Delete previously stored Session and Modify them as you wish
  • Reopen any accidentally closed Tab or Window

One of the greatest advantage of this Plugin is, it automatically detects Browser Crashes and immediately shows a window helping you to restore the Browser with all the contents you had before it’s crash. Also, you can define it (in options of course) to popup every time you open the Browser to help you restore a previous session or cancel and begin new session.

ScribeFire Blogging Firefox Plugin

Print This Post Print This Post

ScribeFire Blogging Firefox PluginIt’s always a tiresome to visit your Blog’s Administration Page for creating a new Post every time you wanted to blog about something especially to me as I’m having about 6 Blogs (4 Professional, 1 Official and 1 Personal) under my sleeve. Also, when you see a website or information in web that you would like to Blog, you’ve to open another Window or Tab (if your Browser supports it) and open your Blog’s Administration page for writing.

Now, all these problems came to a single solution by the name of ScribeFire a Firefox Extension (Add-on) that helps you to do the Blogging very easily. It simply places a icon in your status bar which upon clicking immediately divides Firefox window in the middle and provides you with a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor with pre-fetched Categories available in your Blog so that you can straight away Blog the content you want. Also, as it divides the Firefox window (not opening a new Window or Popup which will be annoying and tiresome as well) you can still see the contents you’re browsing in Firefox and easy Drag & Drop or Copy & Paste the contents from the Browser into your Blogging Editor.

One more coolest feature of this Plugin is it allows you to Blog not only on WordPress but also on TypePad, LiveJournal, Windows Live, Performancing, Jeeran and your own Flexible customization of any Blog. That’s one hell lot of a Blogging Tool I can say. Even Google’s Blogger extension to the Firefox only allows you to Post on your Blogger hosting.

So, right away head to use it and let me know your comments as usual…

IE Tab Firefox Plugin

IE Tab Firefox Plugin

It’s always been a compromise between Internet Explorer (IE) and Firefox for me as I’m a Web Developer. Now, if you’re a Web Developer, you will understand what I meant. For those who don’t here’s why: Firefox provides ultimate tools for debugging JavaScript as well as CSS which Internet Explorer lacks very much. And Firefox also provides secure browsing and strictly complies with W3C Standards. But on the other hand, IE comes with ultimate support for Websites. It provides flexibility beyond imagination. And not only that, my Clients vary from IE to Firefox as they choose to use according to their wish. So, I always wanted to cross-check all my websites in both IE and Firefox and ensure it works well in both browsers. That won’t be difficult if you understand the common functions across IE and Firefox.

Now, coming to this Post, I’ve been always wanting a solution to keeping IE and Firefox running side by side or just using Firefox forever and have IE features in it. I can say neither is easy to do. But there is a simple solution by the way of a add-on to Firefox. It’s called IE Tab Firefox Add-on and it’s available from the Mozilla Website.

Now, what this one does to solve my issue? It offers a possibility of embedding Internet Explorer windows inside Firefox in any Tab you wish. This is similar to those IE based Browsers such as Maxthon (one of my favourite) and Avant Browser. It also offers options in right click popup of any link to open that link in IE Tab so that you can see how that one looks in IE exactly. Also, there is a button added to the status bar of the Firefox window which upon clicking turns the page you’re currently visiting in IE and Firefox vice versa. It’s ultimate cool for me. Try it out and let me know your comments.

JavaScript Debugger Firefox Plugin

Print This Post Print This Post

JavaScript Debugger Firefox PluginIf anyone of you is a Web Developer you should have certainly experienced a dreadful experience with the Client-Side Scripting languages such as JavaScript, VBScript and JScript. All these scripting languages are NOT actually independent languages. They’re merely a integrated version of the Browser you’re using and also varies in functions, objects and some syntax from browser to browser. But I’m not talking about that dreadful thing which I think is impossible to solve until every browser copes up with W3C Standards and design Scripting Languages that share the same functions and objects everywhere. But I’m talking about a more dreadful thing, Debugging! You all knew very well (if you’re a software developer) what Debugging means and why it’s so important.

Finally there is a solution from Mozilla for debugging JavaScript inside Firefox. I don’t know how many of you knew the Error Console in Firefox. That’s an useful utility available from Tools -> Error Console that displays all JavaScript and CSS errors in a document you’re browsing and allows you to go the pinpoint location of the error by just double clicking on the Error listing (a GREAT feature I should say which is more useful than IE’s dreadful JavaScript error Messages Popup that does nothing but annoys us very much). I’ve been using this Error Console only for a long period of time to debug JavaScript errors. But now, I should say, I’m very much relieved to see Mozilla has came up with a solution for debugging JavaScript.

It’s named Venkman JavaScript Debugger and it’s available as an Add On (Extension) to the Firefox Browser.

This debugger has it’s origins in Netscape’s JavaScript Debugger and offers both Graphic and Console level debugging. It also provides the following features:

  • Breakpoint management: Breakpoints allow you to stop code execution at specific points within the source code. You can set and clear breakpoints within the tool, allowing you to easily control program flow while debugging. Double-clicking breakpoints opens its corresponding file with the breakpoint line highlighted.
  • Call stack inspection: This feature provides a peek at what is being called when a script runs. Double-clicking an item in the call stack opens its containing file and highlights the line corresponding to the entry in the call stack.
  • Variable/object inspection: This feature allows you to view the values of variables and objects during script execution.
  • View source code: The script view within the debugger interface provides a view of the JavaScript code being debugged.
  • Execute JavaScript code: You may enter and run your own JavaScript within the debugger.

The views of the call stack, open files, and variables/objects are presented as trees. Any item with a twisty icon next to it contains children and is expandable to view its child objects. The toolbar contains buttons for working with the basic debugging features, which include the following:

  • Stop: Halts the execution of the current script. It is only active and available when a script is running.
  • Continue: Allows you to resume script execution once it has been stopped via a breakpoint.
  • Step Over: Allows you to step over a function call. It is available when stepping through a script line-by-line, and it allows you to skip going into a function’s code when it is called. The call to the function proceeds, and you proceed to the line following the function call.
  • Step Into: Runs one statement at a time. After stepping through a statement, you can see its effect in the other debugging windows. Also, this allows you to step into the body of a function when/if it is called.
  • Step Out: Executes the rest of the current function, with execution stopping at the line that called it. (This is only when Step Into is used and execution moves to a called function.)
  • Profile: Enables or disables code profiling of the currently running script.

To know how to debug JavaScript with this extension and more details on any usage you might have in mind, please visit the official Venkman Walkthrough provided by Mozilla.

AI RoboForm: Keeping your Passwords and Identities Safe and Secure

Print This Post Print This Post

AI RoboForm

One of the great hassles in this IT world is keeping your Passwords and Identities safe and secure and most of all never forgetting them! Well, no software that I can suggest can improve your mind capacity. But then, what’s Computers for? Let your PC or Laptop remember everything for you and keep you hassle-free from keeping your identities and passwords safe and secure.

Well, the Computer can’t do anything without the software. Here’s one hell lot of a software that I’m reviewing today for your own benefits. I’ve been using this software for almost one year now and I think I qualify for a review of the same.

AI RoboForm from Siber Systems is the software I’m talking about.

What this software can do for you? Well, I can say a hell lot you will love to. For a quick overview, this Software does the ultimate thing: Remembers your Logins (User Names and Passwords) in various websites and also keeps your Identity details (such as your Personal Details, Credit Cards, Banks and Contacts) and helps you fill them by a single click of the mouse on any Form you encounter while signing up for any website or services. It is also doesn’t just remembers your passwords, it helps you to login into those website with a single mouse click as well. Also, if you forgot the password of a Website, this one automatically highlights the PassCard you’ve stored before for that website so that you can login to that website by clicking on that PassCard.

Now, the detailed features of this Software that will interest you very much:

  • PassCards
    • Automatically helps you to save Passcards from the Logins you’re making in a website at first time (after installing the software of course)
    • Helps you to fill the saved login information whenever you visit the website
    • True one click login by letting you to click on the PassCard for automatically visiting the website, filling the login information and clicking the submit button. Fully automated and requires just a single click from you.
    • View, Edit, Duplicate your PassCards as you wish.
  • Bookmarks
    • Helps you to keep Website Addresses as Bookmarks
  • Safe Notes
    • Any notes you think needs secure storage can be entered into this software and kept safe.
  • Identities
    • Keeps all your information in a series of fields and helps you to fill them whenever you encounter a sign up or pay to form.
  • Password Generator
    • Helps you to generate highly secure Passwords. You no longer need to keep generating a password that you remember. As this one helps you generate passwords and helps you to save them also, you don’t need to remember it at all.
  • Folders
    • Allows you to keep the Passcards, Identities and Safe Notes organized in Tree-like Folder structure that you can define yourself.
  • High Encryption
    • Provides industry Encryption systems to keep your PassCards, Identities and Safe Notes highly secured.
    • Leaves you off of hassles by just providing you a Master Password using which you can unlock all the securely stored information.
    • You only need to remember this Master Password.
  • Integrated Search
    • Helps you to search various PassCards, Identities and Safe Notes that you forgot that you actually entered it.
  • Portability
    • Helps you to keep your PassCards, Identities and Safe Notes in any USB Sticks so that you can carry them wherever you go (Highly useful to those who don’t own a Laptop)
  • User Interface
    • Highly usable user-friendly user interface that integrates with most Browsers automatically

Now, after providing you a standard version of the features, here is my highlights and lowlights about this software:

Highlights:

I really appreciate their way of portability which helps us to carry the PassCards and Identities wherever we go as it helps us synchronized with our Passwords and Identities no matter whether we’re with our Computer or outside browsing from a NetCafe.

The software truly has excellent AI (Artificial Intelligence) as it’s rightly named. It automatically detects everything and automatically attaches itself to any software that has internal browser for browsing internet or that requires a login.

The integrated Password Generator will surely help us to keep excellently secure Passwords that are very hard to break. Also, it also helps us by remembering those generated passwords so we don’t have to remember 20 bit long characters that don’t make sense at all. :)
Excellent Form filling that comes with this software helped me beyond my expectations and thrown IE, Google and Firefox auto fillers to dust.

PassCards is an excellent feature and top most one of this Software I can say. This helps us not only remember the passwords, also lets us login to that website by just a click on the PassCard that’s easily accessible from the toolbar that gets automatically attached to all the Browser Windows we have.

Lowlights:

The main draw back of this Software is it’s compatibility. Even as I said before, it supports a majority of Browsers, it still didn’t supported some of my favourite Browsers such as Opera. But as it supports IE and Firefox the major community can highly benefit.

Annoying Popup that pops up automatically every time you fill up a form which has at least one password field (of course this can be disabled by disabling the auto-save option which is actually very useful one so it becomes a compromise)
